Spanish uses several question words to form interrogative sentences. Each serves a specific purpose:

  • Qué (What): Used for general inquiries
  • Quién (Who): Asks about people
  • Cuándo (When): Inquires about time
  • Dónde (Where): Asks about location
  • Por qué (Why): Seeks reasons or explanations
  • Cómo (How): Asks about manner or state
  • Cuál (Which): Used for choosing among options
  • Cuánto (How much/many): Inquires about quantity

Example: “¿Qué hora es?” (What time is it?)
