Panamanian Christmas Traditions

Panamanian Christmas is a joyous mix of religious observance and festive parties. Homes are decorated with nativity scenes and Christmas trees. On December 24th, families attend Misa de Gallo, followed by a midnight feast of arroz con guandú (rice with pigeon peas), tamales, and ron ponche (rum punch). Fireworks at midnight announce Christmas Day. The holiday season extends to January 6th, with the day of the Three Kings celebrated with parades and additional gift-giving.
