Coordinating conjunctions join words, phrases, or clauses of equal grammatical rank. The main coordinating conjunctions in Spanish are:

  • y (and)
  • o (or)
  • pero (but)
  • sino (but rather)

Example: “Quiero ir al cine y comer palomitas.” (I want to go to the movies and eat popcorn.)
